3 February 1824 – José de San Martín settled in Brussels with his daughter Mercedes. He resided, among other places, at 21 Rue de la Fiancée, in the centre of Brussels.
17 August 1850 – Death of José de San Martín in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France
28 May 1880 – Repatriation of his remains to Argentina and interment in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires
12 June 1975 – Inauguration of the equestrian monument to San Martín on Avenue de Tervueren, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre (Brussels), near Woluwe Park.
